The Georgia Chapter of HIMSS is pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 Georgia HIMSS David Z. Cowan scholarship!
The goal of the Georgia HIMSS David Z. Cowan scholarship is to foster leadership in the advocacy, collaboration and education of Health IT and Management Systems in Georgia. This was the inaugural year of the scholarship and GA HIMSS received an overwhelming response from students across the state of Georgia who are interested in making a difference in health care through the use of information technology.
The applicants were evaluated on their leadership, scholarship, vision, experience, and commitment to GA HIMSS. Each scholarship recipient received $2000. This year's scholarship recipients are: Ana Alston, Georgia Health Sciences University; Tiffany Formby, Georgia Institute of Technology; Laura Griggs, College of Coastal Georgia; Lars Moen, Georgia State University; Laura Sims, Georgia Institute of Technology.
The recipients will be publicly recognized at the Georgia HIMSS 3nd Annual Golf Tournament on May 14, 2012 at the Sugarloaf Golf Course in Duluth, GA. The proceeds from the golf tournament are used to fund the scholarship and support our dedication to developing student leadership in the healthcare industry. Students enrolled in an accredited Georgia college or university may apply for the 2013 GA HIMSS David Z. Cowan scholarship this fall. Check our site this summer for application information and forms.
Thank you again to all our GA HIMSS sponsors, Golf Tournament participants and student applicants.
