Guest Speaker: Larry Garber, M.D.; Medical Director for Informatics, Fallon Clinic/SAFEHealth Topic: SAFEHealth – A Sustainable HIE with a Novel Patient Consent Architecture Guest Speaker:Jamie Ferguson, Executive Director,HIT Strategy & Policy, Fellow, Institute for Health Policy, Kaiser Permanente Topic:The NHIN In Production for Treatment Purposes – About Kaiser Permanente, Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Dept. of Defense using NHIN for real time patient care today The success of HIEs depends on providing value at the right price, fitting into real-world workflows, and earning the trust of the community’s stakeholders. Larry Garber, M.D. will discuss how SAFEHealth met these needs with a novel federated architecture and consent engine exchanging data. Currently live and financially sustainable in central Massachusetts, SAFEHealth integrates into the workflows of busy outpatient offices and Emergency Departments. Kaiser Southern California and the Veteran’s administration San Diego region are now in production exchanging clinical summary information to improve the care of veterans who are being treated by Kaiser Physicians. Jamie Ferguson will discuss Kaiser's data exchange initiatives with these federal agencies leveraging the NHIN. ***This Webinar has been approved for up to 1.2 contact hours of continuing education credits towards renewal of the CPHIMS credential. |
