Summer Program on Patient Throughput

A big THANK YOU to Brent Robinson for speaking at our program on July 15th!

DeKalb Medical Center discussed how to remove roadblocks from the fluent movement of patients through a hospital.  A three-phase project was initiated that included addressing cultural apathy that this problem was too big to fix, redesigning and redistributing staff in housekeeping, and reviewing capacity constraints to transfer maximum beds to acute services.  Results have shown significant improvements such as a decrease in days per month on ED diversion and shorter room turnover time.
